PT GNI Helps Village Infrastructure in Bunta, Builds Roads and Culverts

North Morowali, February 24, 2026 — PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI) demonstrated its commitment to community development by supporting the construction of culverts and a 1.2-kilometer road in Bunta Village, East Petasia District, North Morowali Regency. This infrastructure development was carried out as a flood-prevention measure while also improving accessibility for local residents.
Sun Gang, Deputy of the Emergency Department Division (Public Relations) of PT GNI, explained that the construction was carried out entirely using the company’s heavy equipment. The road was built with an elevation of 80 to 90 centimeters, considering that the area is a former swamp prone to waterlogging.
“The road construction is divided into two segments: the first segment in Hamlet 5, stretching 600 meters, and the second segment in Hamlet 1, also 600 meters long. In addition to raising the roadbed, we also built culverts to ensure smooth water flow,” Sun Gang said on Tuesday (February 24, 2026).
In addition to the construction of roads and culverts, PT GNI also assisted in landfilling the schoolyards of State Elementary School (SDN) 2 Bunta and State Junior High School (SMP) 3 East Petasia, which had previously been frequently affected by flooding. Moreover, the company helped fill in the yards of residents’ homes located in swamp areas to be used as places of worship and funeral homes for the local community
“Kami berupaya agar bantuan yang diberikan benar-benar menjawab kebutuhan masyarakat, khususnya terkait akses, pendidikan, dan kegiatan sosial keagamaan,” tambahnya.
Meanwhile, the Head of Hamlet 1 of Bunta Village, Alamsyah Loliwu, representing the local community, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for PT GNI’s concern for infrastructure conditions in the area. According to him, the newly built road is a vital access route for residents, particularly in residential areas and boarding-house business complexes.
“We are very grateful to PT GNI. This road is extremely important for the residents of Hamlet 1. Previously, it was narrow and difficult to pass, especially during the rainy season. We have been waiting for this development for about the past four months, and now it has finally been realized. We are truly thankful,” he said.
Through this infrastructure assistance program, PT GNI reaffirmed its commitment to continuously contributing to sustainable development and to strengthening harmonious relations with communities surrounding the company’s operational areas.
