Nickel smelter company PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI) organizes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the form of English Language Schools for students around the industrial area, specifically in the Tanauge Village and Bunta Village, North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.
On this occasion, the Principal of SMP Negeri 3 Petasia Timur Nofrice Susana Paseda said that free English learning for students organized by PT GNI was beneficial as a provision for them in the future.
"English is the world's language, SMPN 3 Petasia Timur students thank PT GNI for supporting the English Day school program every Friday, the students' vocabulary is getting better and better, the teachers are super and friendly," said Nofrice, XX February 2022.
GNI organizes this activity as a form of concern for the growth and development of local residents. This English class program hopefully will help residents around the mine to interact, both orally and writing, in English. Apart from teachers, native speakers are also assigned to teach at this English School.
The English Language School Program began in January 2022. Currently, the participants consist of elementary to high school students. But in the future, it is possible for any local residents who want to learn English.
The intensity of these activities is carried out in Tanauge Village twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a duration of two hours per day. Meanwhile, in Bunta Village is held every Friday, also with a duration of two hours per day.
The Principal of SD Negeri 1 Muuridun Laeto said that this English language training program not only benefits school students but also the teaching staff involved in these activities can bring benefits to everybody.
“I feel happy with the assistance of the English language learning program from PT. GNI, because with those, I can still learn English at my current age (50 years) to understand and use English better. I hope that this program can run well and be sustainable in the long term. Thanks to PT GNI," he concluded.
