PT GNI's Presence Stimulates Development in Bunta Village, North Morowali

METROSULTENG.com-Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI), a nickel smelter company located in North Morowali, Central Sulawesi, is present as a nickel processing company that synergizes in the mineral and coal downstream program.

Through an official release, Tuesday (14/9/2021), PT GNI claims that the presence of the largest nickel company in the country has brought various benefits, especially for residents of Bunta Village, East Petasia District, North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.

PT GNI makes a significant contribution to the lives of the people of Bunta Village, which is the center of the smelter construction.

Head of Bunta Village, Christol Rizal Lolo, revealed that since PT GNI's presence into Bunta Village, East Petasia, North Morowali Regency, in 2019, all progress at the company has contributed significantly to the regional economy, especially from employment.

“With the entry of PT GNI, everything has changed, and we also see that 85 boarding houses have been built. Then we saw that in the past there was only one BRILink, now there are seven that have been built. Then also, the absorption of labor, PT GNI provides job opportunities for the surrounding community," he said.

It is known that the presence of PT GNI has opened new job opportunities for the community and is able to absorb around 4,000 workers. So far and is planned to increase to approximately 10,000 workers in the future.

PT GNI has also built various supporting facilities, ranging from road access, jetty, steam power plant, batching plant to employees' residences.

In addition, Christol said that PT GNI also helped the community in developing village infrastructure. One of them is the access road that is commonly used by the community for activities.

"And if there is a damaged road, we ask PT GNI for help to repair the road because this is in our common interest," he said.

Meanwhile, the Founder of PT GNI, Tony Zhou Yuan said PT GNI cooperates with local governments to develop and realize the government’s downstream programs, as well as improve the welfare of local communities in the fields of education, environment, tourism, and so on.
